Abstract

Complex numbers are useful piece of mathematical apparatus that play a critical role in understanding many applications including quantum computation. This note summarises some key properties and some systems and packages that support programming with complex numbers. We discuss complex number support in Fortran and D as well as library and package support in other languages such as C/C++, Java and some modern scripting languages.

Keywords: complex numbers; numerical precision; science; Java; C++; D
